I’m really excited to be teaching music for Pre-K through 8th grade this year. There are so many fun experiences in store for us! For the younger grades, there are singing games, songs, dances, and holiday celebrations to teach music theory and history as well as elements of rhythm and melody.
Fourth and fifth graders are introduced to playing the recorder and ukelele. Sixth through eighth graders learn to play the handchimes, which requires greater music reading and rhythmic skills. Fifth through eighth graders explore choral singing with harmony, both for our school liturgies as well as our Spring musical. Exciting stuff!!
I’m really thrilled to be teaching art for the Kindergarten through 5th grades this year. There are so many wonderful aspects of art to explore – elements of line, shape, texture, color, value, form and space. There are famous artists and movements to discover. This year we are looking at a variety of techniques and mediums inspired by famous artists – oil pastels, tempera, colored pencils, watercolor, collage, chalk pastel, printmaking, and clay. Fun ways to be creative – can’t wait to get started!!
